During Golden Week, Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima are expected to be more crowded than usual. Please plan your island excursion well in advance. Also, please be aware that amenities such as places to buy drinks, rest areas, and medical facilities are limited on the islands, so please take adequate precautions against heatstroke.

Online Ticket Purchase

In order to alleviate congestion on the islands and waiting times to enter the facilities, as well as to optimize the viewing environment, some art facilities at Benesse Art Site Naoshima have implemented a reservation system requiring online tickets.During the Golden Week period, online tickets are expected to sell out.When tickets are sold out, visitors without pre-purchased tickets will not be allowed to enter the facilities. If you plan to visit during this period, we kindly request that you purchase your online tickets in advance.

About Island Excursions

  • ・Town buses and shuttle buses operate routes to Naoshima and Teshima. In the event of the bus reaching full capacity, boarding may not be possible.Please note that island residents will also utilize these transportation services.
  • ・During the period, Naoshima and Teshima are expected to be crowded. Please be aware that buses and regular ferries may also reach full capacity. We kindly ask you to plan your travels with extra time to spare.
  • ・ There is a limited number of restaurants on Teshima. As the island is expected to be crowded during the event period, we recommend preparing refreshments in advance before visiting the island.
  • Inujima can only be accessed on foot. Please wear comfortable attire suitable for walking.

Naoshima Bath "I♥湯" Special Bathroom Viewing Program

Naoshima Bath "I♥湯" by artist Shinro Ohtake is an art facility where visitors can actually bathe in. During the Golden Week holidays, we will be offering a special viewing program, allowing visitors to exclusively view both the men's and women's bathhouses.Please note that photography inside the facility is exclusively permitted during the program for personal use only.

Setouchi"   "Archive/Miyanoura Gallery 6

Setouchi"   "Archive is a project launched in September 2019 that is based at Miyanoura Gallery 6. This project by artist Motoyuki Shitamichi features the research, collection, and exhibition of materials related to the landscape, culture, folklore, and history of the Seto Inland Sea area.
