How to Enjoy Benesse Art Site Naoshima
Benesse Art Site Naoshima features artworks scattered throughout the islands of Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima.
In addition to the art, the island's unique streetscape and scenery are also highlights.
We recommend that you take a day trip around the islands, or stay overnight and enjoy your time on the islands at your leisure.- There are more than 30 facilities and more than 20 outdoor artworks on the three islands.

Access to the Islands
From major cities, you can take the Shinkansen bullet train, airplane, local train or bus to ports on your way to the islands.

Estimated Time for Your Stay
If you focus on a specific destination, a day trip around the island is possible. However, if you’d like to fully experience the island’s facilities, artworks, and atmosphere, we recommend staying overnight.

Getting Around the Islands
Naoshima and Teshima are large islands, making it difficult to explore them on foot alone. The main transportation options are rental bicycles and public minibuses. On Inujima, walking is the only way to get around.
During busy periods, such as major holidays and the Setouchi Triennale, buses and boats may be full. We recommend planning your itinerary with ample time.- The timetable is subject to change. Please check the official websites of the transportation agencies.
- Please note that taxis are limited, with only two available on Naoshima and one on Teshima.

Preparing to Enjoy Art
First, check the opening calendar for your destination island and facilities. During peak seasons, some facilities may sell out, so we recommend purchasing tickets online as soon as your visit date is decided.

Regarding meals
If you plan to decide on lunch once you arrive, please be aware that restaurants may be crowded, and you may not be able to find a place to eat. We recommend including your meal plans in advance.
Cafes and restaurants in Benesse House Museum, Chichu Art Museum, and Teshima Art Museum must be used after entering the museum.

- Naoshima has only one convenience store near Miyaura Port. There are no convenience stores on the islands of Teshima and Inujima.

Clothing and Personal Belongings
When touring around the island, it is recommended to leave large luggage at the station or port and wear comfortable clothes.
There are art facilities where you will be asked to remove your shoes, so please wear shoes that are easy to take off and put on. Since you will be spending a lot of time outdoors, heat and cold protection is essential.Useful Items to Bring
