Open Days Calendar and Ticket Information

Below is information about our opening hours, closed days, and how to pre-order admission tickets for the various sites at Benesse Art Site Naoshima.
We recommend that you carefully refer to this information before your visit, to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience once you are here.

Opening Hours and Closed days

Generally, the art facilities on Naoshima are closed on Mondays, and those on Teshima and Inujima are closed on Tuesdays. During the winter season, from December through February, the art facilities on Teshima are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, those on Inujima are closed on Tuesdays to Thursdays.

*The art facilities are open on national holidays, but closed the following day.
*The art facilities are closed for yearly maintenance for a few days in January and June.

The exact schedules for each facility may differ, even for sites on the same islands, so please check the open days calendar before your visit.(The opening hours of a facility may differ in winter.)

For Individual Visitors

Chichu Art Museum (Naoshima)
Due to the increase in visitors to Chichu Art Museum in recent years, in order to alleviate congestion on the island and museum entry waiting times, as well as ensuring an optimal viewing environment at the museum, we will implement a reservation system starting on August 1st 2018, and online tickets will be sold year round at intervals of 15 minutes going forward. In following art facilities, if it is overcrowded, there may be times when we restrict the number of visitors entering the museum. In this case, we will distribute waiting numbers to visitors.


Teshima Art Museum (Teshima)
In order to ensure a comfortable viewing experience for everyone, there may be times when we restrict the number of visitors entering the museum. During peak times we will distribute waiting numbers to visitors at the Teshima Art Museum Ticket Center.
Art House Project, Kinza
(Naoshima)
Kinza is an artwork accessible by reservation only.
Can only be seen by appointment, and only one person within 15 minutes may enter at a time to view it.
* Art House Project "Kinza" will be closed temporarily for maintenance. Due to this, we are not accepting new reservations for "Kinza" currently.

For Groups

To ensure a smooth experience, it is recommended that you book in advance for some of the art facilities at Benesse Art Site Naoshima. Also, we ask that your group be divided into smaller groups, of less than 8 people, in order to enter some of the smaller facilities. Please refer to the list below for more detailed information.

Naoshima Bath "I♥︎湯" (Naoshima)
Not available for group viewing. (This is an actual public bath. You need to take a bath in order to see the facility.)

Miyanoura Gallery 6 (Naoshima)
Not available for group viewing. Due to limited interior space, please divide your group into smaller groups before entering.

Teshima Art Museum (Teshima)
Reservation necessary. (You can book from here.)
* In this museum, there are several art works that can only be viewed by a limited number of people at any given time. Therefore, without a reservation, you may be asked to wait to see them.
If you are with a group of 10 or more, please be sure to make a reservation.

Les Archives du Coeur, Teshima Yokoo House, Teshima 8 Million Lab (Teshima)

Needle Factory, Storm House, Tom Na H-iu, La forêt des murmures (Teshima)
No reservation necessary.

Inujima Seirensho Art Museum (Inujima)

Inujima "Art House Project" (Inujima)
Reservation is recommended. (You can book from here.)
* Inujima "Art House Project" consists of six galleries. The space of each gallery is limited, so please divide your group into smaller groups before entering.

MECON (Megijima)
No reservation necessary.

Other Information about Admission Tickets

Museum Link Pass
This pass is a discount system linking three museums: the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa, and Benesse Art Site Naoshima in Kagawa and Okayama. You can obtain the pass free at any of the museums, and have it stamped. When you visit the second museum, the entrance fee is discounted. If you visit the third museum within a certain period of time, you will receive a special gift. For more information, please visit here.

Annual Passport
An annual passport, allowing an unlimited number of visits, is available for both the Chichu Art Museum in Naoshima (JPY 10,500), and the Lee Ufan Museum in Naoshima (JPY 5,250). Annual passports for each facility are available at each museum's Ticket Center.

Setouchi Triennale Passport
During the Setouchi Triennale, you can visit some of the art facilities within Benesse Art Site Naoshima using the Setouchi Triennale Passport. For further information about schedules and the art facilities, please visit the Setouchi Triennale website.
